Angela Cush-John was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended high school at St. Vincent Academy and attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge for college. Her desire to be a pediatrician surfaced in her early childhood years and she returned to Shreveport to follow her father, Dr. Joseph W. Cush, into the field of medicine. Dr. Cush-John attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport, where she graduated in 1995. She stayed at LSUHSC-S to complete her pediatric residency training in 1998.
When asked to join Mid City Peditrics, she was thrilled at having the opportunity of working with her own pediatrician, Dr. William Haynie. She was the first partner to add a mother’s experience to the group and anecdotes of her real life experiences as a working mother with three children, two sons and one daughter, are often used as examples in explaining care to patients and their parents.
Dr. Cush-John is married to Richard John, a local attorney. Angela and her family are life-long members of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoys spending free time with her family on their East Texas farm, exercising, reading, and relaxing on her front porch in Shreveport’s historical South Highlands neighborhood. She also bleeds purple and gold – Geaux Tigers!
