Originally from Springfield, Louisiana, Bryan Roberts attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA, where he studied microbiology, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in 2009. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Naval Reserves through the Health Professionals Scholarship Program in 2011 and attended medical school at LSUHSC Shreveport. He graduated from medical school in 2015 and then transitioned to active duty, moving to Portsmouth, VA, where he completed his internship in Pediatrics at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth. Following a 2 year shipboard tour where he served as the Senior Medical Officer onboard USS GUNSTON HALL, he returned to pediatric training at Naval Medical Center San Diego, CA. He completed his Pediatric Residency and was Board Certified in Pediatrics in 2020 and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Following completion of his residency training, Dr. Roberts was stationed at U.S. Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, as the solo Pediatrician and served as the Department Head of Primary Care. He was later selected as the interim Chief Medical Officer for the hospital. After completing his tour in Cuba, he transferred to Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA, where he was Assistant Dept Head of Pediatrics and the Inpatient Pediatrics Lead.
Dr. Roberts completed his Naval service in August 2023 and joined Mid City Pediatrics in October 2023. While no longer a military pediatrician, he is excited for the opportunity to provide care to both civilian and military families in the Ark-La-Tex region. He met his wife, Dr. Marithe Gutierrez-Roberts, while attending medical school and volunteering as a camp counselor for Camp Tiger. His many hobbies include traveling, cooking, gardening, hunting, scuba diving, and fishing.
