Fast Lane Walk-In Sick Clinic Instructions

About the Fast Lane

  • Purpose: Our Fast Lane is designed for acute illnesses — for example, a fever that started overnight, sore throat, runny nose, etc. For more information, go to Our Services on our home page and click “Same Day Sick Visits” to learn more. 
  • Not for Chronic Problems: It is not intended for ongoing issues lasting more than 4–5 days. Chronic problems should be scheduled as regular appointments so the doctor has adequate time to address them.
  • Walk-In Slots: We offer 10 walk-in slots per hour from 8 AM to 4 PM.
  • Sign-Up Times: Slots open online at the top of each hour (e.g., 8, 9, 10, etc.) and are available up to 3 days in advance.
  • First Come, First Served: Slots are filled in the order they are booked. If you do not have a slot for that hour, you will be seen after those who do — resulting in a longer wait time. We encourage everyone to sign up for a time!
  • Why We Schedule This Way: Distributing visits throughout the day helps reduce wait times. Delays occur when too many patients arrive at the same time.
  • No-Show/Cancellation Fees: If your child no longer needs to be seen, please call to cancel at least 2 hours before your time slot. A $25 no-show fee will apply to missed or uncancelled visits.

Important Reminders

  • Not Traditional Appointments: These are timed walk-in slots.  Please do not confuse the Fast Lane schedule with a regular scheduled appointment. These are still considered “walk-in” visits—some waiting will still occur.
  • Same Number of Sick Visits: We will see the same number of sick patients per day; you just choose your time slot.
  • If a Slot is Full: Please choose another time to avoid extended waits. When everyone follows the process, wait times are shorter for all.

Additional Instructions

  • QR Code Check-In: As with our current system, please scan the QR code when you arrive in the parking lot. (Instructions are posted on our website’s home page.)
  • If Slots Are Full: Call us for same-day cancellations or urgent needs — we will do our best to work your child in.

If the System Isn’t Working

  • New Patients: Please call our office to schedule — you must be registered in the patient portal to use online scheduling.
  • Technical Issues: If the online system is down, call during office hours and we can schedule your slot by phone. We will also post updates on social media if the system is unavailable.

Emergency Situations

  • If your child is in distress, notify us immediately or call 911.

VISUAL INSTRUCTIONS:

When ready to schedule, sign in to your child’s portal at midcity.pcc.com/portal

1. Click on “Schedule Appointment” under the Upcoming Appointments heading.

2. Choose the patient you are setting up an appointment for. Choose “Sick” for Appointment Category. 

3. On the next screen, choose “Fast Lane” for Appointment Reason, “Any provider” for Appointment Provider, and “Shreveport – 2225 Line Avenue” for Appointment Location.

  • You will have the choice of Fast Lane 1 and Fast Lane 2 as providers.
  • Both Fast Lane providers have the same time choices. They have times at the top of the hour and at 15 minutes after. 
  • Fast Lane 1 and Fast Lane 2 are for the same doctor (this will be whichever MCP doctor is covering our Fast Lane clinic during that day.
  • Choosing “Any provider” will allow you to see all Fast Lane appointments available. 

4. Time slots are at the top of the hour. EVEN IF YOU SIGN UP FOR A TIME 15 MINUTES AFTER THE TOP OF THE HOUR (e.g., 8:15, 9:15, 10:15), YOU SHOULD COME AT THE TOP OF THE HOUR (8, 9, 10).

4. Find your desired time and select “Schedule.”

  • You may enter any appointments notes on the next screen. We encourage a brief description of the problem. 
  • Make a note of your time.

5. You should now see the appointment listed on your child’s home portal screen.
